COUNSELLING, PSYCHOTHERAPY AND MENTORING IN LONDON

How Counselling Is Different From Talking to Friends and Family

Support from friends and family can be incredibly valuable, but those conversations may sometimes feel complicated. The people close to us may have their own opinions, emotions or involvement in the situation. They may try to solve the problem, offer advice or reassure us before we have had the opportunity to fully express how we feel.

You may also hold back because you do not want to worry anyone, create conflict or feel like a burden.
A counselling relationship is different. The time is focused on you, and the counsellor is not personally involved in your life. This can make it easier to speak openly and explore feelings that may otherwise remain unspoken.

Rather than telling you what decision to make, counselling can help you understand what you need, consider your choices and find a way forward that feels right for you.
