Feeling accepted and understood can gradually change the way we relate to ourselves. When another person listens without judgement, it can become easier to approach our own feelings with the same kindness.
This may help you recognise your needs, communicate more openly, establish healthier boundaries or challenge beliefs that have affected your confidence. You may begin to see that your emotional responses are not signs of weakness but understandable reactions to what you have experienced.
Change does not always happen quickly, and counselling does not remove every difficulty from life. However, it can help you feel less alone, understand yourself more deeply and develop healthier ways of responding to challenges.
